Road Trip/"Jaunt"/Commute
Today we made a day of traveling to Flathead Lake 60 miles north of Missoula. The trip was a blast! We wanted to rent a boat and cruise around the lake but by the time we got there the sunny sky had turned overcast and grey and it was sprinkling rain. Instead, we drove around the lake scoping out campsites for future camping this summer and we stopped in a beautiful little town called Bigfork because we saw the Witty Knitters Yarn Boutique. After Shelli's yarn fix, we took a long hike along the swan river and then spent the rest of the afternoon in cute Bigfork.Wednesday, December 06, 2006
Christmas Tree Hunting!
This is our first year of marriage, and our first Christmas tree! After purchasing our tree tag, we went to the Pattee Canyon Rec Area (where the rangers told us we could go).. This area is a little thin (apparently a lot of people get their trees here) so it took awhile to find the right tree. Not to small, not too tall, not to thin, not too bushy... Just right..
This is Ben dragging the tree through the snow. We had to hike awhile to get back to the car, and we didn't have the benefit of a sled. Also, on this hike, we decided that we really want cross country skis. We walked across a lot of ski tracks, and we both decided it would be a fun winter activity (since we can hike nearly as well with snow on the ground!)
Dragging trees is hard!(Pssst. we can see your long-johns!)
Shell tries her hand at dragging the tree... Wow, that sucker is heavy!
We finally made it to the car, and after discussing the neccisity of tying something around the end of the tree, we headed to the stores to pick up lights and ornaments.
Here is the impressive wreath Ben put together out of our tree's extra branches.
We put a lot of work into our fabulous wreath, and we made one for our close friends. As you can see, Ben is very proud of his work.
Our wreath is huge! Look, it barely fits on the door.We decorated it together. It has mainly red and white decoration and ornaments. Shelli also made the fabulous bow for the topper.
